A basic term in evolution is "niche". Plants and animals evolve to live in niche environments.
Humans can alter their environment to live pretty much any place. 90% of humans are deemed to live in cities in the near future. When we build cities we can tweak our designs to include useful habitat for other species and nature.
An example of a tweak allows this beautiful pink Leptospermum squarrosum (Tea Tree) to flurish, it grows beside a concrete driveway, and needs the water collected in this area.
